Description This date calculator computes the difference between 2 calendar days, using a "From" and a "To" calendar, side-by-side. Select the month or year from a drop-down list, or click on a day in either calendar. You can also enter a number of Days or Months Difference you wish to compute, relative to the date shown in the "From" calendar: Click on the text field under the and type in the difference value. Then press Enter and the result is updated. Note that the Days Difference is exclusive of the "From" day. This is different from a Period, such as an employee work week. A Period, such as March 3 through March 9 is a period of 7 days, but the arithmetic difference is 6. The calculator displays both the Difference and the Period, but accepts only a Difference as a manual entry. Increase the Difference by 1 to arrive at a desired Period. With the Months Difference feature you can enter a number of months relative to the "From" date, and it will display the resulting date in the "To" calendar. It will pick the maximum valid day possible in the "To" calendar, if the maximum day in the "From" exceeds the maximum day in the "To".. For instance, 1 month from Aug 31 will be Sep 30. However, 1 month from Aug 30 will display as Sep 30. You can compute the number of Months Difference by selecting 2 dates from the individual calendars -- but the "Months" will be displayed only if the days match: However, if months have unequal days, the last day of each individual month are considered "equal". So, if you select from the calendars the dates Aug 31, 1999 and Feb 29, 2000, the Months Difference will be displayed as 5.
