SOMETHING in COMMON |

Introduction This all started as a chance to offer solutions to the troubles this country is facing, and took shape with the idea that two men, from different times in our nation’s history, could meet through the medium of dreams. The old farmer, named John, helped establish the “Colony’s” independence and frame the constitution, but he had concerns about how it would be interpreted in the future. The future is Miguel, who wanted to help solve the problems of today, problems that would have caused John to “turn over in his grave”. My direction changed with the California recall election, which presented a chance to challenge California’s difficulties. Miguel has some specific answers to his state’s issues, such as what has gone wrong with our democracy, and the self-interests that have corrupted the legal, and political systems, as well as the average citizen. Miguel and John are very different but, deep down, unexpectedly similar, and represent the heritage of us all, from this country’s beginnings to the present This story takes you through our tribulations, but also provides the solutions. Yes, this is fiction, but you will find yourself drifting between perception and reality, as did Miguel and John. We, the people and the system, have strayed further and further from John’s (and his fellow framers) intentions, but are very fortunate that our forefathers blazed a well-marked trail, showing us the way through the early stages of our brief, but fertile history. Over the past 40 years, however, we have forgotten how to follow directions. This is my attempt to help with the map. Bob Locker On to the book itself .... |
