Camp Life: A & K Style
My idea of "camping" -- ironed linen napkins, china, sliverware, and black-tie service! The food is excellent and the bread and pastry made fresh daily.
A full moon rising over Tarangire -- after cocktails and dinner, it's time for the first night in the "bush". The evening musical selection is the Zipper Symphony. The sound of tent zippers going up and down -- the outside zipper, the inside zipper, the zippers on baggage. Everyone is zipping to keep the bugs out. Actually, insects aren't much of a problem. The zipper noise drives them away.
Morning ablutions are performed al fresco in the wash basin. Warm water is provided in the green bucket. A hot shower from an overhead canvas bag is also available on request from your personal tent attendant. Each tent has an attendant who takes care of everything ... laundry, making the bed, tidying up, waking you up with coffee, biscuits, and juice. Can we bring James home with us? Each tent has its own shower and sanitation facility -- a varnished wooden commode over a generous hole in the ground-- located in a private compartment at the rear of the tent. "Flushing" is accomplished by troweling dirt from a bucket provided! It's very effective, believe it or not.
