Serengeti Lions
This lion is not dead ... he's dead to the world. It's high noon and it's nap time in the Serengeti.
In the heat of the day, not even our Land Cruisers cause much of a stir among the predators. Predators don't have as much to worry about as the prey.
The big (and the little) cats ignore us and continue whatever they're doing -- flicking off the flies, digesting wildebeest -- even as we're parked right next to them. Just don't get out of the vehicle!
These ferocious expressions are contagious -- the cub starts, and mother (right) starts -- yawning!
Mother, when not hunting or yawning, nurses the cubs.
Cubs, when not nursing, play at hunting ...
... or just looking cute.
