Why did the lioness cross the road?
To give the lion a 10 minute break! A break from what?
On a very early morning drive in Ngorongoro Crater, we find a pair of lions, male and female, vigorously engaged in perpetuating the species along the side of the road.
Each performance, initiated by the lioness, lasts less than a minute but they are surprisingly frequent. We observe 4 times in 45 minutes. And this supposedly goes on for days!
After ecstasy, the lioness lies on her back and dreams of the future family...
... while His Highness the King of Beasts wobbles about somewhat exhausted, but evidently not complaining.
