The "ferry" arrives at Praslin, and we enjoy a short cruise to nearby La Digue. It looks like it's going to be another hot and steamy day here in Paradise.
Motor vehicles are not permitted on La Digue. Mass transit options are the oxcart or the bicycle. The oxcart arrives to transport us to our lodgings.
The cart ride through "downtown" bicycle traffic delivers us to our thatched-roof chalet at "La Digue Island Lodge".
Now we've found Paradise: It's air-conditioned and has a refrigerator!! For our end-of-day cocktails, we enjoy a sugar cane distilled spirit purchased at a Nairobi Airport duty-free store for $5.00 (US Dollars). Like a light rum, it mixes well with coke. When we run out of cane spirits, I visit a few shops in La Digue to restock our cocktail supplies. The cheapest bottle of vodka I can find on the island is $40.00 (US Dollars). No thanks. BYOB: Bring Your Own Booze to the Seychelles -- or just drink the beer.
We rent bicycles to explore the island and stop for a cold brew at informal "Choppy's", where a local dog joins us and digs out a shallow pit in the sand to keep cool.
Bike trails circle the island along the coastline, offering great views.
Shallow waters bordering the coast glow a brilliant aquamarine hue.
At Source d' Argent, we find what is probably the most photographed palm tree in the world. Lynn follows the precedent of the many beauties who have posed here before her and perches in the palm for a "fashion shoot".
This is truly the classic, Seychelles "Paradise" view. La Digue is quiet and scenic, but it's time to move on. We take another ferry boat from La Digue to Mahe, where we connect with a short flight to Bird Island.
